Gaming Mascot Contest

Gaming is looking to for their own mascot and they are asking for your help. The winner will get a free membership to AnimeFest and will be recongnized on the website and in the 2005 program book. The contest deadline is July 30th. Listed below are the three vague things that they are looking for:

  • Female character
  • Must represent gaming
  • Original fantasy/sci-fi/anime theme

General Rules

  • An artist-name may be used. However, all entries must also include the artist's full real name, as well as phone number and home address for contact purposes.
  • Extreme violence and gore, general nudity and graphic sexual content are not acceptable. Entries containing unsuitable content may be declined at the discretion of the AnimeFest staff.
  • Plagiarism is not acceptable!

Specifications

  • Submissions will not be returned. If submitting a non-digital work, a good quality photocopy of that work is recommended.
  • Non-digital works should be mailed in an mailing envelope that is the same size as the work itself. The submissions should not be bent or folded.
  • Computer submissions: a minimum of 750 pixels by 750 pixels is needed. Just about any file format will do, but if they save in a lossy format (like jpg), it needs to be set to a minimum compression (highest quality). For other printing (t-shirts, etc.) we'll need much larger source art. Somewhere around 1500-2000 pixels minimum.
  • If there is a background (instead of plain white), we will need extra background around the character that would allow for some minor cropping.
  • Digital works may be submitted in either a high quality JPG, PNG or TIFF format saved to CD-R. All layers should be flattened before submission.
  • Any work not fit for printing will be rejected.

Entry Instructions

  • Download and print the release form and the contact info sheet. Fill out the contact info sheet and the information at the top of the release form and then have each artist/author sign the bottom of the form acknowledging their agreement of the terms and conditions of the contest.
  • If mailing in: Seal the completed contest info form, the signed release form and your paper entry in an envelope mailer with a thin cardboard backing to protect the art. Mail the envelope via the U.S. Postal Service to:
    AnimeFest
    3001 S. Hardin Blvd.
    Ste. 110, PMB 108
    McKinney, Texas, 75070
  • Submissions must be postmarked no later than July 15, 2005.

Judging and Prizes

  • The winning entry will be used as the AnimeFest2005 Gaming badge, seen on the Gaming web page, and possibly used in the program book.
  • Winning entries will also be available for viewing at the AnimeFest.org website.
  • The artist of each winning entry will receive one complementary AnimeFest! membership and one t-shirt.
  • By submitting your work to the contest, you grant AnimeFest! permission to reprint it, in whole or in part, in its publications, both printed and electronic.
