Yu-Gi-Oh Regional

Times : Registration starts at 11:00 am and play starts at 12:00 noon

(You do not have to be an AnimeFest member to get into the tournament area at the convention!)

Tournament Structure:

The tournament will be run in the Swiss format with a cut to the top 8. This means that we will run a number of rounds (the exact number is based on attendance) where everyone plays against an opponent with roughly the same record. After those Swiss rounds the 8 player with the best records will advance into the top 8.
Decklists are required for this event. Please plan on arriving early to complete one or bring a clearly written or typed list with you.
The Deck used for dueling must contain a minimum of 40 cards. Aside from this minimum limit, your Deck can contain as many cards as you like.
In addition to your dueling Deck, you can also have 15 additional cards in a separate pile known as the Side Deck. The Side Deck allows you to modify your Deck to better suit your strategy during a Match.
Between Duels, you can exchange any card from your Side Deck with any card in your Deck - as long as you end up with the same number of cards that your Deck began the Match with.
The Side Deck you create must contain exactly 15 cards at the beginning of a Match. In other words, if you don't have enough cards to create a 15 card Side Deck, you cannot use one at all. NOTE: This Starter Deck contains 50 cards, so you will need 5 more cards to create a Side Deck.
In any Match, the Deck and Side Deck combined cannot contain more than 3 copies of the same card. Also, be aware of Forbidden and Limited Cards.

Match Structure:

A winner will be determined in each match when: A player is the first to win 2 Duels in a Match OR Rounds will be 40 minutes.
Format: Advanced using the Forbidden List

Admission is only available to AnimeFest members. Memberships are available at the door, but are priced higher than if purchased prior to the convention. Memberships purchased now are valid though December 31st, 2008 and include admission to AnimeFest 2008. Additionally the member may also be entitled to attend other AnimeFest sponsored events for free or at a nominal charge (although these other events are rare).

Due to information privacy laws, children 12 and under may not register online or by mail. However:

Children 7 years old and younger may not actually join the club, however they are admitted free to club functions when accompanied by an adult member.
Children ages 8-12 may join the club, but may only register at club events. Children's memberships are available for only $15. In addition, a parent or verifiable legal guardian must be present to give consent to join the club.
All children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all club functions. Therefore, the adult guardian must also be a member in order to accompany the minor to most convention functions. [more info...]
